General

These are actual things that happened in my life, they did not mean anything at the time but its strange how things pan out in your life.

1. When my father passed away at home, I was asked by the doctor or other to empty my dads pockets of any belongings he may have on him. I did so and found only his wallet with various items in it. One of these items was a betting slip and on the back he had hand written the horse name and racecourse,  I kept it safe and I thought nothing of it at all for years. The name of the horse was 'New Life Connection' running at Newton Abbot and years later our New Life began in Newton Abbot when I moved to work in Devon.

2. Back in 1986 whilst returning to Wales from a holiday in Cornwall, we had a severe car crash. Luckily we all survived the ordeal with various minor injuries. Ursula, Kate and Amy had minor cuts and brusing and I suffered some mild concussion. The accident happened about thirty miles from Exeter and we were all taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital for treatment. A few years later Ursula joined the staff at the hospital when we moved to Devon.

3. One of the first houses we purchased in Devon was a large Victoria house and via our solicitors we received the old deeds related to the house, I believe the house was built around 1875. Being based in Devon we have plenty of family and friends visit us for short breaks or who are just passing through the area. One of the first to visit was my nephew Barry Mason and his new wife. Ironically, the first name on the house deeds was Barry Mason.
